It Started With One Monument
What began as a historical research project led me to the grave of Sheriff John Macon Poag. His monument had fallen, weathered by time and nearly lost to neglect.
I wanted to do more than document what remained. I wanted to understand how to preserve it properly — safely, respectfully, and without causing further harm.
Restoring that one monument became something much larger. It sparked a commitment to preserving cemeteries, protecting the stories they hold, and helping others see why these places still matter.
